They play amazing! It’s not a downside at all, but they ARE rather bright. I made the switch from a vandoren green box and was surprised to feel how much of a kick these guys have! I have also struggled with intonation for a good while now, but these give you all the tonal control you could ever ask for (though they certainly aren’t a remedy for a broken horn, so don’t go thinking they’ll replace one! Keep your instruments up, folks.) I highly recommend them, especially if you are looking for a good set up for contemporary music! (Did I mention that, if you take care of it, you csn use only one of them for a year or even more?! Crazy deal, right?) So what are you waiting for?! Go ahead and treat yourself! God bless you all.
Absolutely love it. A little easier to play softer when required. Very responsive. Ordered another for me and one for a friend from local music shop
Added another quality Legere reed to my existing Reed. American 2.25 Reed is the right strength for me.
I switched from cane reeds to Legere synthetic reeds about six yrs. ago. Have been nothing but amazed with the playability & durability of Legere reeds. I’ve use the “Studio Cut”, “American Cut” as well as the “Classic Cut” I have yet to try the “European Cut” but no doubt will also try those in the future. Can’t thank the folks at Legere’ for producing such a fine & innovative product!!!!
We truly appreciate your feedback and are grateful for your kind words!
I had a nice 1.5 reed for my alto, and after a year of playing ordered 2.25 and it fits just perfect. I like that the step between the strength can be 0.25. And my two saxes now have much more punch and body to the sound )
Your feedback means a lot to us—thank you for sharing your review!
I have been playing on the Signature and American Cuts for 5 years. I find them the closest to cane you can get in a synthetic, they are perfect out of the case (no sanding, trimming throwing away 7 of 10 reeds). I double, so it's wonderful to pick up the horn after 15 minutes and not have to worry about the reed drying out. I've had a lot more issues with cane reeds cracking/chipping and Legere never warp.
