I am a long-time user of Legere saxophone reeds, for both alto and tenor sax. I find that French Cut reeds work equally well on both instruments and help me perform well for the full range of these saxes. They are also durable, and justify the price premium with great performance and longevity.
The new French cut reeds are wonderful!
Glad to hear you're enjoying the reed!
I'm delighted with this reed - played well right out of the box. Consistently sounds good without needing adjustments.
Glad to hear you're enjoying the reed!
I played tenor in the queer big apple corps symphonic and marching bands in New York City. I’ve been using my new Legére reeds in both bands for a few weeks now, and not only do I love them, but the other saxophone players in the section are very interested and some have even ordered Legére reeds. this symphonic band has 12 altos, four tenors, and three baris!
Thanks for the review!
I'll start off by saying that I use this reed on bass clarinet, not tenor sax. I've been using Légère reeds since 2008 on soprano clarinet, bass clarinet, and tenor and have always found them superior to cane. American Cut tenor reeds and European Cut bass clarinet reeds had been working very well for me on bass but when these French Cuts were announced I knew I had to try them out. I found them to play really well and I was especially impressed with the improved response in the clarion register. After my initial experience with them I went up a quarter strength to 3.5 and I think my search is over. I have no qualms about recommending these fine reeds.
Thank you for the thoughtful and detailed review, we appreciate your comments!
