The American Cut represents the next-generation of Légère saxophone reeds. From the first note, the reed speaks with total ease while giving players just the right amount of tonal edge. It is effortlessly free-blowing, colorful, and loaded with personality.

The American Cut’s distinct profile is what gives players a full, clear low register and vibrant altissimo.

American cut soprano reed

The American cut soprano reed is great reed. It is a little longer than the signature reed and hangs off the table a bit. This is not uncommon with some mouthpieces. The American cut responds a little quicker than the signature. I like the consistency of Legere reeds. Its all I use now and they last a long time.

Soprano reeds are excellent

I keep getting compliments on my soprano sax tone. Not pitchy and shrill. I thank k Légère for the awesome reeds that let me sound better

Thanks for the kind review!

Sop sax reed versus Bb clarinet reed - comparison for sop sax

I've been using Légère Bb clarinet reeds on my sop sax - it started when I had several that were the wrong strength so when I got a sop sax, and had not sop sax reeds, I used the Bb reeds. They worked well and the tone and responsiveness seemed fine. I just bought a sop sax reed of identical strength to test. The sax reed is a little broader and shorter. Swapping back and forth, my initial impressions are that the sax reed is a little brighter and louder, and perhaps a little more responsive in the lowest notes. Intonation seems similar but I have as yet to use a tuner to test it. I think I'll continue with the "official" sax reed and use the Bb cl reed as a back up.
I used to use the same reeds for Bb and Eb clarinets and sop sax - its really convenient! But I recently swapped to using an Eb reed for that pip-squeak clarinet and found the sound and intonation to be more stable - so I'm anticipating the same with the Sop Sax in the long run.
