I tried the French cut tonight for the first time on my Rafael Navarro BAHIA Rojas metal mouthpiece and Buescher Top Hat & Cane tenor sax. I had been having trouble with squeaks on the other reed cuts and this reed really straightened that problem out. I love the open sound and warm rich tone with that reed. I will definitely be sticking to the French cut.
This is my first experience with a plastic reed and I must say I'm impressed. I underestimated how easy it would be to adjust so I wish I had got a thicker reed but that's my issue and speaks to the wonderful playability of this reed. If you've been thinking about making the jump, I highly recommend it.
Tenor Saxophone French Cut
French cut it’s something unbelievable great! I’ve been playing Signature and American cut before, but French cut has really amazed me!!! Very bright, clean and balanced sound! Easy respond and easy playing!!! Thanks Legere!!! Still the best
Thank you for your review!
I have had the chance to pay both the alto and tenor French Cut reeds over the past two weeks and I am very satisfied with my purchase. As a long-time player of the Signature model, I was doubtful this new model would be a significant improvement but I was wrong. The French Cut maintains the clear, focused tone I have enjoyed from the Signature while adding even greater articulation sensitivity.
In short, IT JUST PLAYS!
Thank you for the thoughtful and detailed review!
