Good reeds are expensive and then they are finicky. The Legere are good right out of the box, last and don’t warp or break down quickly. The stiffness and sound is great as well!
Now saving much practice time with Légère reeds. Took a little time to get comfortable with the different “feel" as well as to find the compatible strength, cut, etc for my bass and Bb. Once done, happy days. Exchange program, too, made it work for me.
Glad to hear you're enjoying the reed!
Thank you very much for creating ease for performers! I have been using your reeds for 2 years and am very happy! With respect, Astana Opera Orchestra. Kazakhstan
Thanks for the kind review!
I play in a community symphonic band and switched from soprano to bass clarinet about a year ago. I was forever fussing with my cane soprano reeds. I now pick up my bass with a new European Cut Légère reed, and it blows smoothly and freely with beautiful tone and sharp articulation immediately, every time from the beginning of a practice or rehearsal. No fuss. No bother. No required adjustments throughout the playing session. I’m playing a much lower number with my bass than with my soprano, and I bought a 2.25 and a 2.5 strength to see which might work best. They’re both working for me, and I’m still trying to decide if I want to keep the two I bought or exchange one to have two of the same strength. I still haven’t decided which way to go. Maybe I’ll try one of the other cuts, but as to the new Légère reeds, I’m completely sold on them.
Thank you for the thoughtful and detailed review, we appreciate your comments!
The year European cut is a great read for the bass clarinet. I thoroughly enjoyed playing it.
