The Légère Oboe reed is the first synthetic orchestral-grade oboe reed ever produced. It can be played for hours before needing rotation and can last up to six to twelve months. It is warm, stable to upper registers, playable out of the box, and will never respond to climate conditions. It is recommended for Oboe players of all experience levels.

Medium soft oboe reed

Very easy to play with good response. Sound quality is decent. The best part is the performance doesn't change when the weather does! I will definitely buy agai

Amazing !

Just what I have need waiting for ! I love the consistency of the reed, and that it’s not affected by changes in humidity.

Nice surprise!

It's taken some time to adjust to using a synthetic reed, but I have grown to appreciate not having to soak reeds during long rests and breaks. I particularly love this aspect when playing in modern pit orchestras where multiple instruments are the norm in reed books. I resisted trying these reeds, secretly wanted to dislike them, but tone is not compromised. In fact, it has a surprisingly nice sound. There's definitely a learning curve, as adjustments I was used to making throughout the oboe's range on bamboo reeds are different on synthetic. I still keep the reed in my mouth when moving around rehearsal spaces, mostly out of habit, but that still seems to be the safest spot for it! Although much less fragile than cane reeds, they are not indestructible. I found out the hard way in an unplanned encounter with a music stand.
I appreciate Légère's flexibility to exchange hardness levels. So far, I believe I will save time and money on reeds in the long run.

Thank you for the thoughtful and detailed review, we appreciate your comments!

Legere Oboe Reed (Medium Soft)

This is my third Legere Oboe Reed and just as expect, the performance is outstanding. The Reed has a really good response and a nice tone to it. Would highly recommend this product.

Thanks for the review!

Excellent

These reeds are quite good all things considered. However they are still relatively "hard" and I eagerly await the American scrape oboe reed if it's still in development

Glad to hear you're enjoying the reed!
