WHY THEY WORK

The secret? A synthetic material unique to Légère, meticulous computer controlled processing operations

and a team of ambitious and hardworking individuals who passionately believe in the Freedom to Perform.

Materials
Design Process

Cane is a unique material—lightweight, yet surprisingly stiff along the grain. That unique combination is what makes it vibrate so well. Reproducing those properties in a synthetic material isn’t easy—but it’s exactly what we’ve done.

Our reeds are made from a special formulation of polypropylene—a non-toxic, food-safe polymer you’ll also find in medical equipment, yogurt cups, and packaging. On its own, polypropylene is far too flexible for a reed. So we strengthen it through a process called orientation, which aligns the polymer fibers to dramatically increase stiffness. That’s the secret to the signature feel and response of a Légère reed.

Because our material doesn’t absorb moisture, Légère reeds don’t need soaking, never warp, and are ready to play right out of the case. They’re durable, hygienic, and can be cleaned easily with warm water and a mild detergent. It’s cane—refined.

The Légère Guarantee

Légère Reeds wants you to be completely satisfied with your purchase.

Everyone can enjoy their Légère reeds if they find their right strength. This is why we are proud to provide an Exchange of Strength Program within 30 days of purchase. If you are unsatisfied with your clarinet or saxophone reed, please begin the exchange process regardless of where you purchased it in the world.

Please be assured returned reeds are discarded after a quality check and are never resold.

Surprisingly Good

It’s hard to match the vibrancy of cane reed with a synthetic material. This French Cut reed is amazing! No thinness in the upper register and very full sound. Very similar to Vandoren Java Filed Reeds (Red Box). I will buy again!

5 Stars!

I am a classically trained sax player (degree in ‘92) who started learning jazz about 6 years ago. It has been a struggle for me, despite my love for jazz. My sound is too “pretty” and improvisation is a challenge. However, with Legere reeds I have my horn out on its stand with the mouthpiece and reed ready to go at all times. Looking back on the hours of my undergrad, and the following years, spent struggling with cane reeds, it’s amazing the difference I have in practice consistency with this product. It’s so easy to pick up my sax before work and blow through some scales and exercises because 100% of my time is in playing, NOT finding the perfect reed. In addition, with the purchase of my French cut reed, I am better able to manipulate my sound. For the first time in my life I am succeeding at learning the altissimo register, learning how to growl, and bending my tone. My professor, who has been my jazz teacher for 6 years, said that I finally made a breakthrough with the French cut reed! He can hear me starting to rough up my sound, and said that I am even making fast progress with my improvisation because I am not held back by a cane reeds. My low notes come out with ease, and I can keep the horn better in tune. All of my students have these reeds now and they rave about them. Thank you so much for creating the incredible product that has taken my playing to a new level and opened up the music of jazz for me!

Excellent! French cut tenor

Fantastic reeds! I am now using French Cut temptation both classical and jazz mouthpieces for that contemporary dark focused sound

We truly appreciate your feedback and are grateful for your kind words!

So good, I bought a second reed.

I love these. Bought a second reed recently. They work well with my mouthpiece and feel easier to play than a lot of cane reeds

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

Outstanding

It took a little while to break in and get used to, but now I can confidently say that I love this this reed. I've played quite a few synthetic reeds over the years and this is the best of all of them. I had a 2 hour session yesterday and I forgot about the reed completely and just focused on the great sound I was getting. Very happy.

We're so thankful for your positive review and are glad you had a great experience!

Easy Playing Reed

I love my new reed for my tenor sax. The reed makes the sound louder and stronger. Easy to play.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the reed!
