WHY THEY WORK

The secret? A synthetic material unique to Légère, meticulous computer controlled processing operations

and a team of ambitious and hardworking individuals who passionately believe in the Freedom to Perform.

Materials
Design Process

Cane is a unique material—lightweight, yet surprisingly stiff along the grain. That unique combination is what makes it vibrate so well. Reproducing those properties in a synthetic material isn’t easy—but it’s exactly what we’ve done.

Our reeds are made from a special formulation of polypropylene—a non-toxic, food-safe polymer you’ll also find in medical equipment, yogurt cups, and packaging. On its own, polypropylene is far too flexible for a reed. So we strengthen it through a process called orientation, which aligns the polymer fibers to dramatically increase stiffness. That’s the secret to the signature feel and response of a Légère reed.

Because our material doesn’t absorb moisture, Légère reeds don’t need soaking, never warp, and are ready to play right out of the case. They’re durable, hygienic, and can be cleaned easily with warm water and a mild detergent. It’s cane—refined.

The Légère Guarantee

Légère Reeds wants you to be completely satisfied with your purchase.

Everyone can enjoy their Légère reeds if they find their right strength. This is why we are proud to provide an Exchange of Strength Program within 30 days of purchase. If you are unsatisfied with your clarinet or saxophone reed, please begin the exchange process regardless of where you purchased it in the world.

Please be assured returned reeds are discarded after a quality check and are never resold.

Continuing new lease on playing

As a kid (14 - 24) I used to go through a box of ten Vandoren’s or Rico’s and get maybe 2 that were workable — but these always needed fussing with (several different sanding things, reed tip cutter … ) and even a good one would last maybe 3 weeks at best. Each Legere Signature I have used (I use 2.25s) have been exactly the same. They work instantly and perfectly right out of the box, and given that I switch between 2 or 3, they all last well over a month. More like 2! I am super pleased with the response and the sound -- I mean these sound great to me as the player. So nowadays as a returning player (no longer a kid, I’m pushing 70 :) , the reliability and excellence, and no muss no fuss of these reeds is absolutely fantastic for me.

Newer is Much Better

Many years ago (more than 10 is all I’ll tell you)…I tried Legere reeds for tenor, bari and bass clarinet….I was not overly impressed and never went back to synthetic reeds. A recently retired military musician gave me a Legere Signature 3 alto reed and said they are the only reed she uses. I tried it and I’m sold! they work well in both jazz and classical settings….thanks for the improvemnts.

Awesome

These are the best for me. I have a 2.25 and a 2.5. Alto sax. Don't think I will go back to bamboo reed. Not knocking them. Just my chose.
