WHY THEY WORK

The secret? A synthetic material unique to Légère, meticulous computer controlled processing operations

and a team of ambitious and hardworking individuals who passionately believe in the Freedom to Perform.

Materials
Design Process

Cane is a unique material—lightweight, yet surprisingly stiff along the grain. That unique combination is what makes it vibrate so well. Reproducing those properties in a synthetic material isn’t easy—but it’s exactly what we’ve done.

Our reeds are made from a special formulation of polypropylene—a non-toxic, food-safe polymer you’ll also find in medical equipment, yogurt cups, and packaging. On its own, polypropylene is far too flexible for a reed. So we strengthen it through a process called orientation, which aligns the polymer fibers to dramatically increase stiffness. That’s the secret to the signature feel and response of a Légère reed.

Because our material doesn’t absorb moisture, Légère reeds don’t need soaking, never warp, and are ready to play right out of the case. They’re durable, hygienic, and can be cleaned easily with warm water and a mild detergent. It’s cane—refined.

The Légère Guarantee

Légère Reeds wants you to be completely satisfied with your purchase.

Everyone can enjoy their Légère reeds if they find their right strength. This is why we are proud to provide an Exchange of Strength Program within 30 days of purchase. If you are unsatisfied with your clarinet or saxophone reed, please begin the exchange process regardless of where you purchased it in the world.

Please be assured returned reeds are discarded after a quality check and are never resold.

Studio Cut Reeds are the best. Légère, please don't discontinue them!

I was quite saddened to hear that Studio Cut reeds are being discontinued, as I feel that the Studio Cut 1.5 reed is unique in the Légère line up and the only one that works perfectly with my setup. It's soft and flexible (softer than the American Cut 1.5), and I'm able to get a very clean sound with it. It also allows me to play every note on my tenor exceptionally clearly, from low Bb up to the altissimo range with strong projection. In fact, using the Studio 1.5 I was able to hit altissimo notes and overtones that I'd never been able to play before! Truly amazing. Légère, please reconsider and don't discontinue this reed cut!

Super Happy!

This is my first synthetic reed, and I must say, I'm IMPRESSED. It reacts just like a natural reed and maybe it's mental, but I feel like I don't get fatigued as quickly using the synthetic. I would highly recommend.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

My favorite Legere reed

I have both the 2.0 and 3.0 Legere Studio cut reed. Like the thickness of the reed. Tone, sound and projection is amazing.

We truly appreciate your feedback and are grateful for your kind words!

Tenor Saxophone Studio Cut Reed

Legere Team,
I want to acknowledge that the Legere Tenor Saxophone Studio Cut Reed (1.50) plays excellent for my style of music (funk, smooth jazz, pop, movie and Xmas tunes). The quality is excellent, formulated to last and consistent during practices & performances. So much better than cane reeds!
Thank you,
Norman Cheng

LOVE IT!

REALLY ENJOYING MY TENOR SAXOPHONE STUDIO CUT REED! I FEEL MORE RELAXED WITH THE WAY THE REED FEELS AND RESPONDS. I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. ESPECIALLY IF THEY PLAY OUTSIDE OFTEN. HOWEVER, IT'S GREAT FOR PLAYING INSIDE AS WELL! FIVE STARS!!

Thank you for the thoughtful and detailed review, we appreciate your comments!
