WHY THEY WORK

The secret? A synthetic material unique to Légère, meticulous computer controlled processing operations

and a team of ambitious and hardworking individuals who passionately believe in the Freedom to Perform.

Materials
Design Process

Cane is a unique material—lightweight, yet surprisingly stiff along the grain. That unique combination is what makes it vibrate so well. Reproducing those properties in a synthetic material isn’t easy—but it’s exactly what we’ve done.

Our reeds are made from a special formulation of polypropylene—a non-toxic, food-safe polymer you’ll also find in medical equipment, yogurt cups, and packaging. On its own, polypropylene is far too flexible for a reed. So we strengthen it through a process called orientation, which aligns the polymer fibers to dramatically increase stiffness. That’s the secret to the signature feel and response of a Légère reed.

Because our material doesn’t absorb moisture, Légère reeds don’t need soaking, never warp, and are ready to play right out of the case. They’re durable, hygienic, and can be cleaned easily with warm water and a mild detergent. It’s cane—refined.

The Légère Guarantee

Légère Reeds wants you to be completely satisfied with your purchase.

Everyone can enjoy their Légère reeds if they find their right strength. This is why we are proud to provide an Exchange of Strength Program within 30 days of purchase. If you are unsatisfied with your clarinet or saxophone reed, please begin the exchange process regardless of where you purchased it in the world.

Please be assured returned reeds are discarded after a quality check and are never resold.

Soprano Sax Reed American Cut

The American cut reed is perfect for the sound I'm looking for on my Soprano. I perform with 5 bands playing mostly "cover" music of different styles. I chose the 2.5 strength...perfect.

Soprano American 2.5

I already had a Signature Soprano 2.75. Wanted a reed somewhat easier to blow so I decided to experiment by going to the American 2.5. This made the desired improvement. I'll probably try a Signature 2.5 in the future. I also use Studio and American on Tenor and Alto and Signature on Baritone.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the reed!

A Godsend

Legere American cut reeds are a true godsend.
They play wonderfully and last for a long time.
I use them on Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone and Clarinet. I will never go back to Bamboo reeds.

Your feedback means a lot to us—thank you for sharing your review!

My favorite reed for soprano!

The American Cut reed is my favorite for the soprano.
I use it to play any style, from classical, rock, jazz.
It fits perfectly with my mouthpiece, a HR Gaia Theo Wanne, with a leather ligature.
Easy to play, low to high, with a sound I love!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

Great Reed

Strength 3 turned out to be my choice after testing 2-1/2 and 3-1/2 as well. It sure beats the brand I had been using for 25 years.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.
