I've been playing the American Cut reeds on tenor for a while, and they've been terrific. I got a new mouthpiece with a slightly wider tip opening than the one I'd been playing on, so I got a softer Légère. It worked very well. I've already played a concert on my new setup, and it was a pleasure. I love knowing how the reed is going to play before I even put it on the mouthpiece. Definitely recommended!
Reeds are no longer something I worry about! These reeds just plain work! My mouthpiece has a very open facing and the 2.0 to 2.25 allow my horn to speak (as well as I can!). It lets me concentrate on my playing!
Good warm tone and receptive and lasts longer
I have been using the American Cut on both my tenor (with a Berg Larsen stainless steel mp) and Bari (Yanigasawa mp) and really like the bright sound and quick response. Doubling is easier here in Southern Arizona, where cane reeds can dry out quickly. After trying many non-cane reeds, Légère reeds are my choice.
I played Legere Signature 2.75 for a few years before I tried American Cut for the first time. I absolutely love it. Using 2.50 and it’s perfect for me. Strong and stable, bottom to top. Love my sound.
Glad to hear you're enjoying the reed!
