I am a beginner and trying to sort out the nuances of reed options. A saxophone is a big investment and at my level I need all the help I can get. I tried cane and two versions of Legere reeds. The French cut seems to give me the best sound. I may try the lower softer one but like the synthetic reed concept.
Pour l'instant je suis très satisfait de ce French Cut
I'm one of those performers who wears a lot of hats on a gig (vocalist, keyboardist, sax player), and have been struggling for years (decades, really) to find a solution for a sax reed that's still ready to play after my horn sits on the stand for 20-30 minutes. For the kinds of gigs I play, these reeds not only play great but sound great!
Thank you for the thoughtful and detailed review, we appreciate your comments!
This was a great discovery for me. The reed made for smooth and easy playing right out of the box. Happy to switch from cane reeds to Legere. And I liked being able to use a 2.25 strength reed - seemed to suit me very well.
Thanks for the review!
I just started playing tenor sax in a funk band and I have a Berg Larsen 95/2 metal mouthpiece. I was using the Signature 2.75 reed but I found it a little too soft. I purchased the 3,0 and it is perfect. It gives me just enough resistance to put out some sound without the sacrificing tone. I will be playing outdoor gigs this summer and I know the Legere will work amazingly and immediately no matter the conditions.
Thanks for the kind review!
