David Thomas

Principal Clarinetist of the Columbus Symphony

United States

Légère reeds have changed my life. As a principal clarinetist in a high quality orchestra, I am under pressure to perform at the highest level every concert. Légère reeds, with their consistently beautiful sound and response, have taken the stress and hassle out of reeds, so I can concentrate on making great music!

David Thomas, Principal Clarinetist of the Columbus Symphony since 1989, is a successful soloist as well as orchestral player. This coming season, he will be a featured soloist with the Columbus Symphony in March, 2018, playing Aaron Copland's jazzy Concerto. During his previous position as Principal Clarinetist of the Kennedy Center Orchestra in Washington, DC, he was also well known in the DC area for numerous solo and chamber music recitals. Beyond many appearances as soloist with the Columbus Symphony, Mr. Thomas has performed concertos with the Baltimore Symphony, the National Symphony, and the National Chamber Orchestra. At age 18 he won first prize in competitions sponsored by the International Clarinet Society and the Music Teacher National Association.
