A native of Wisconsin, Benjamin Cold is currently Professor of Saxophone at Bemidji State University. Mr. Cold completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree in saxophone performance and pedagogy in the Spring of 2017 and studied under world renown saxophonist, Eugene Rousseau. Mr. Cold has received international recognition as a gifted saxophonist, resulting in performing and teaching obligations in 25 U.S. States, as well as Ireland, London, Canada, France and Germany. Throughout his professional career, he has taught dozens of clinics, masterclasses, lectured and performed as a guest soloist at many of the Nation’s top academic music programs including, but not limited to the University of Minnesota, Ball State University, Kansas State University, North Dakota State University, the University of North Texas and Northwestern University in Chicago.

Benjamin Cold is a highly active concert-classical saxophonist and is a strong advocate for the performing and promoting of new and contemporary repertoire for the saxophone. This has resulted in dozens of premiere performances of works written specifically for Mr. Cold. Benjamin Cold’s specialty is electroacoustic saxophone, and he works diligently to find creative and unique ways of performing and improvising using live electronics, loop pedals, distortion effects, and pre-recorded synthesizer.
